Biodiesel Process Operator

An exciting opportunity in Washington, Iowa less than 30 miles Southwest of Iowa City, Iowa!

Summary:  IRE is looking for individuals to join our team as Process Operators. We produce quality biodiesel from various feedstocks within required product specifications while maintaining a safe and positive working environment. IRE is a 24/7 operation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Move control settings to make necessary adjustments on equipment units affecting speeds of chemical reactions, quality, and yields

  • Monitor recording instruments, flowmeters, panel lights, and other indicators, and listen for warning signals in order to verify conformity of process conditions

  • Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines using panelboards, control boards or semi-automatic equipment

  • Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality

  • Draw samples of products, and conduct quality control tests in order to monitor processing, and to ensure standards are met

  • Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations, as directed by supervisory personnel

  • Inspect operating units such as cooling tower, storage tanks, vessels, and heat exchangers to ensure that all are functioning and to maintain maximum efficiency

  • Perform all tasks that are assigned during operational and non-operational times by the Production Manager

  • Will be required to access tanks, vessels, and equipment for maintenance and sampling purposes

  • Other duties as assigned.                

 

Work Schedule:

Rotating schedule, 12-hour shifts, work 7 out of 14 days, including every other weekend; night shift work required (w/shift premium)

Employment Standards:

  • Education - High school education or equivalent required

  • Experience – Experience in a production or manufacturing setting preferred
